Three people interview a candidate on Tuesday. By Thursday, feedback lives in four places: a Slack thread, two emails, and one person’s memory. The hiring manager asks the group to “sync up,” but nobody can reconstruct what the second interviewer actually said about the take-home.

Collaborative candidate assessment is a structured process where every person involved in evaluating a candidate — recruiter, hiring manager, panel interviewer, HR — records their feedback in one shared system with consistent criteria.

That is different from “everyone has access to a Google Sheet.” Collaboration means:

Every team starts with good intentions. Someone creates a clean tab. Column A is candidate name. Columns B through G are criteria. It looks organized for about a week.

How to start without overhauling your process
